Community Foundation Grants $8,000 to Marathon Organizations
The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys’ Middle Keys Advisory Council has awarded $8,000 in grants to help Marathon area residents.
These organizations will each receive $2,000 from the Middle Keys Future Fund:
- Keys Area Interdenominational Resources (KAIR) – for its food pantry
- Marathon Recreation Center – for the purchase of equipment, arts and craft supplies, and reading materials for its after-school program
- St. Columba Episcopal Church – for the purchase of equipment, arts and craft supplies, and reading materials for its after-school program
- Stanley Switlik Elementary School – for the purchase of equipment and materials for its after-school student clubs
“Our council of eight community members collectively decided how we could most productively assist our community. We want our donors and Marathon residents to know that we are here to help.” said Marian Buccafurni, chair of the Middle Keys Advisory Council of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys. She said the group is also funding Dolphin Pride Awards for elementary school students and will be considering other grant opportunities throughout the year.
All grants are made possible by donors to the Community Foundation’s Middle Keys Future Fund. Contributions to the Middle Keys Future Fund are currently being matched dollar-for-dollar by the Community Foundation. Learn more at cffk.org/middlekeys.
