“The Beatles Come to Florida”

Presented by: Scott A. Grant, JD

Islamorada – The Florida Keys History & Discovery Center Presents… “The Beatles Come to Florida,” a lecture on Wednesday, June 29, presented by Scott A. Grant, owner of Investment Business, Standfast Asset Management, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Grant is a notable pop historian and financial columnist, studying economics and history at Cornell before working on Wall Street while earning a Law Degree from Rutgers.

Scott shares the fascinating story of John, Paul, George, and Ringo on their first US tour. The Beatles make two trips to Florida as a group. Both of those trips occur in the tumultuous year of 1964. The Fab Four frolic in Key West and Miami enjoying the beach, Florida girls and yachts. The Beatles, on the cusp of worldwide celebrity, meet a young Muhammad Ali unknowingly creating an iconic photoshoot. The second trip to Jacksonville tells us a darker story. The Beatles strike a blow for civil Rights insisting that the Jacksonville Gator Bowl be de-segregated for the first time. Florida resisted, but the Beatles won! Join us on this very entertaining journey through a multi-media presentation.

Attend in person or participate virtually!
