South Florida Red Cross Sends Volunteers to Assist with Disaster Relief Efforts After Tornadoes Hit North Florida

MIAMI, Fla. (March 14, 2022) — Following the devastating tornadoes that ripped through North Florida over the weekend, the American Red Cross has begun its work to support relief efforts helping those most affected.

The Red Cross South Florida Region has six (6) volunteers that have been deployed to support this disaster relief operation, with more preparing to leave in the coming days as well as one emergency response vehicle.

“As we’ve recently seen across the country, here in South Florida and now in North Florida, tornadoes strike quickly, leaving communities devastated,” said Siara Campbell, Regional Communications Director for the Red Cross South Florida Region. “It’s inspiring to see how quickly our volunteers come together and their dedication to spring into action to care for others in their time of need.”

RED CROSS RESPONSE The Red Cross is working around the clock to make sure everyone has a safe place to stay, emotional support and comfort in the face of this disaster. Red Cross volunteers are also helping to assess the damage in affected communities to help determine how many families were impacted and what types of help they may need in the coming days.
