Key West Mayor Teri Johnston endorses Adam Gentle in House District 120 bid

Key West, FL – Key West Mayor Teri Johnston announces her endorsement of anti-corruption attorney Adam Gentle in the House District 120 race.

Johnston was elected Key West Mayor in 2018 and before that served as the Key West City Commission for eight years.

“Adam Gentle is the leader we need fighting for us in Tallahassee,” Johnston said in a statement. “As an anti-corruption attorney, he is ready to take on Tallahassee’s special interests and put our community first. Adam will work every day to protect our right to make local decisions, support our local businesses, and protect our environment. Because of that, I am proud to endorse Adam.”

Johnston’s endorsement comes on the heels of the LGBTQ Victory Fund’s endorsement of Gentle’s campaign earlier this month. The LGBTQ Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office. The national endorsement signaled Victory Fund’s confidence that Gentle is well-positioned to win the House seat.

“I am honored to have the support of Mayor Johnston,” said Gentle. “Her leadership and integrity and dedication to service are qualities that all elected officials should embody. After years of pay-to-play schemes, I am ready to clean up Tallahassee and defend our district against government overreach. Mayor Johnston knows that I will stand up for our values, our interests, and our families in Tallahassee.”

Gentle announced last week he has raised just shy of $50,000 since launching his campaign for House District 120 in January.

Originally from Michigan, Gentle studied at Columbia University in New York and attended George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. He previously lived in Los Angeles, where he worked with charitable organizations like The Young Americans, an organization that promotes “understanding and goodwill among people throughout the world” through the performing arts. As an attorney, Gentle represented tenants facing unjust evictions and worked to uncover corporate corruption. Gentle lives on Big Coppitt Key with his husband Matheus and his dog Oliver.
