April Workshop Opportunity Announced: “How to Hook an Agent”
Key West, Florida – The Key West Literary Seminar is pleased to announce a new in-person workshop in Key West titled, “How to Hook an Agent: Perfecting Your Pitch.” The workshop will run on consecutive Mondays and Wednesdays from April 4-13, 5-7 pm.
Are you ready to submit your novel or memoir to agents? This series of four classes will help you polish your pitch with the aim of giving you confidence, presenting your work in the most compelling way possible, and helping you find a great agent. The course involves readings of each student’s work (summaries, pitches, etc.) between sessions, as well as time fine-tuning different aspects of your own pitch. It will be a mixture of lecture, writing exercises, critique, and vigorous discussion.
Fiction and memoir writers of all levels who have a well-developed book idea and a draft of at least the first five pages are welcome to attend. It helps if you already have a query draft. Classes run on Monday, April 4; Wednesday, April 6; Monday, April 11; and Wednesday, April 13, from 5 to 7 pm, and you should plan to attend all four sessions. The cost is $300 and is limited to nine participants.
The course will be taught by Katrin Schumann, author of The Forgotten Hours, a Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller; This Terrible Beauty, a novel about the collision of love, art and politics in 1950s East Germany; and numerous nonfiction titles. She is the program coordinator of the Key West Literary Seminar.
