Tourist dies after dive incident

A 57-year-old Juneau, Alaska woman died Friday morning after surfacing from a dive off Islamorada.

Kimberly Jean Kilgore was taken to Mariners Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m.

Kilgore was with a group of divers with Islamorada Dive Center. She was in approximately 45 to 47 feet of water in an area locally known as the Runway reef.

She reportedly had an issue in the water and lost consciousness on the surface. CPR began immediately on the commercial dive boat and continued with paramedics en route to the hospital.

No foul play is expected

Autopsy reports are pending.
