Proposed District Boundary Changes Available Online for Review
After reviewing the recent census bureau statistics, the City Commission-appointed Charter Review Committee has recommended some changes to the City’s six voting districts.
Those suggested changed are posted on the City’s website at www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov<http: //www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov>. Just click on the news flash headline that says “Proposed 2021 Single Member District Boundary Map.” From there, click the first link to get to the automated map where you can compare the current boundaries with the proposed new ones. To toggle back and forth on the map, just click on the layers icon in the upper right hand corner and click back and forth on the single member district box. You’ll see black lines appear. Those are the proposed new boundaries. When clicked off, you’ll see the current boundaries.
Every ten years, following the national census, the City appoints a committee to review voting district boundaries so that they accurately reflect the city’s population. The new districts boundaries will go before the City Commission as an ordinance on Tuesday, November 16th for a first reading.
