Cocaine bale found washed ashore

A bale containing suspected cocaine was found by two fishermen Monday evening near Mile Marker 78.

The two anglers reported a white powdery substance inside the package and called the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:44 p.m.

The total weight of the bale and the substance inside was 2.4 pounds. The substance field-tested positive for cocaine.

The Sheriff’s Office notified the U.S. Border Patrol.
