Special Sea-Level Rise/Climate Change/Roads Elevation Meeting to be held June 21

MONROE COUNTY, FL – Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron has called a Special Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Sea-Level Rise/Climate Change/Roads Elevation Meeting to be held on Monday, June 21, at 1 p.m. at the Marathon Government Center. The public may attend in person or through Communications Media Technology (Zoom).

At the April 21 regular meeting of the BOCC, County staff and the County’s consulting team presented an update on the County’s vulnerability assessment focusing on impacts from sea-level rise. The BOCC gave direction to staff to provide additional information on the roads elevation project and the sea-level rise projections in use by the County.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss sea-level rise, its effects on Monroe County, and roads elevation planning. Voting is anticipated to occur on items submitted by staff.
