Survey Studied for Strategic Plan
The City Commission and City of Key West leadership embarked on the journey of creating a strategic plan for the coming three years in a retreat on Thursday. The process was already underway – kicked off by a community survey with more than 3,000 responses, as well as numerous meetings with various stakeholders in the community.
Led by consultant Elisa Levy, the group took the directions that the survey and meetings showed are priorities and began honing in on the specifics of how to get them done.
The survey showed overwhelmingly that affordable housing and sea level rise are important issues that need tackling. But others rated highly as well, including cleanliness and roads and sidewalks. During the retreat, city officials added priorities to the list, then explored feasibility, funding, and timelines.
During the next two months, the process will continue, according to Levy, a process that continues to involve the community and City government.
Levy will be updating the commission on progress at each commission meeting, she said. The next hybrid commission meeting is Wednesday, February 17th at 5 p.m.
