Beloved, Bedazzled, Bejeweled art exhibition on display at TSKW from February 4 – 24

Beloved, Bedazzled, Bejeweled: “….If the body is a stage; jewelry is one of its most dazzling performers.” Jewelry: The Body Transformed; Metropolitan Museum of Art; 11/12/2018

Jewelry designer Maxine Makover and photographer Michael A. Philip collaborate for the first time in a beautiful and thought-provoking art exhibition on display at TSKW from February 4 through February 24, 2021. The artists wish to dispel the narrative about jewelry as decorative object or just a useless accessory. They want to challenge this thinking by exhibiting the jewelry as carriers of socio-cultural and emotional meaning and how they can create, subvert and magnify that meaning.  Maxine Makover is a Key West artist who design handcrafted wearable art. This is her first exhibition at TSKW.  Michael A. Philip is and architectural photographer and a conceptual artist who has exhibited at TSKW for over a decade. The artists wish to dedicate the exhibition in the loving memory of Thelma Philip (1930-2020) Michael’s mother.
