Friends of the Key West Library Present Lily King and Judy Blume

The Friends of the Key West Library’s popular speaker series will present the acclaimed novelist Lily King in conversation with Judy Blume via webinar on February 15, 2021. All lectures in the 2021 season will be presented online due to the pandemic. As in past years the lectures are free and open to all, but you must register to receive the presentation link. https://www.friendsofthekeywestlibrary.org/registration

Ms. King will be in conversation with Key West’s own Judy Blume as she discusses her latest book Writers & Lovers, one of the New York Times 100 notable books of 2020.

Her 2014 novel Euphoria won the Kirkus Award, The New England Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Award. Euphoria was named one of the 10 Best Books of 2014 by The New York Times Book Review. It was included in TIME’s Top 10 Fiction Books of 2014, as well as on Amazon, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, Publishers Weekly, and Salon’s Best Books of 2014.

Key West resident Judy Blume spent her childhood in Elizabeth, New Jersey making up stories inside her head. She has spent her adult years in many places doing the same thing, only now she writes her stories down on paper. Adults as well as children will recognize such Blume titles as Are You There God? It’s Me, MargaretBlubberand Just as Long as We’re Together. Two years ago Blume and her husband, George Cooper, longing for a bookstore in Key West where they live, founded the independent, non-profit Books & Books @ The Studios.

The lectures will be available for viewing following the presentations through the Friends of the Key West Library web site.
