MONROE COUNTY MAYOR PRO TEM MICHELLE COLDIRON EARNS ADVANCED COUNTY COMMISSIONER DESIGNATION

MONROE, FL – The Florida Association of Counties’ Institute for County Government presented Monroe County Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Coldiron with the Advanced County Commissioner designation following her completion of a comprehensive study program after becoming a Certified County Commissioner. The designation included a series of seminars and coursework that focuses on leadership with an emphasis on the future of Florida. Coldiron was tasked with preparing for the future by asserting skillful leadership in times of daunting challenges and rapid change.

“The amount of knowledge exchanged in both the Certified County Commissioners and the Advanced programs are immeasurable,” Coldiron said. “I’ve had the opportunity to make numerous connections with commissioners across the state, which will only benefit the well-being of our county.”

The Florida Association of Counties represents the diverse interests of Florida’s counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that government closest to the people governs best – through advocacy, education, and collaboration.

“Through this program, veteran commissioners from across Florida are able to work collaboratively on the state’s most pressing challenges,” said Eric Poole, the institute’s executive director. “Those who choose to participate are further prepared to meet the unique demands of a public servant.”
