Man cited for undersized fish/lobster out-of-season

A 36-year-old Homestead man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court early Thursday morning for possessing two undersized mangrove snappers and one out-of-season lobster.

Upper Keys Sgt. Robert Dosh was patrolling bridges in Islamorada when he asked to see Yanier Diaz’s catch in his cooler.

Diaz possessed one mangrove snapper that was under six inches in length and another that was 8.5 inches. Mangrove snapper are required to be 10 inches to harvest.

Lobster are only allowed to be harvested from Aug. 6 to March 31.
