E-qualifying Now Available on Hometown! Website

[April 27, 2020 Key West, FL] Hometown! Key West, in its ever-expanding mission to provide candidates the greatest opportunity to reach voters, has added an exciting new feature to its website: each candidate’s page may include links to qualifying documents that voters can sign and return directly to the candidate. This game-changer is in response to an emergency order signed by Florida Secretary of State Laurel Lee, allowing candidates to electronically submit qualifying documents, including signed petitions.

Voters may go to www.hometownkeywest.com and download petitions, sign, take photo and return to the candidate by email or text.

“Now more than ever, it’s important that no candidate is stymied by the inability to collect those signatures that would qualify the candidate for a spot on the ballot,” said Hometown! Board Chairman Todd German, referring to the public health emergency. “The deadline for collecting signatures is noon on May 11th, so we urge candidates and voters to utilize this service as soon as possible.”

Voters and media visiting the Hometown website (www.hometownkeywest.com) already can easily access candidate photos, contact information, and statement.

The 2020 local elections in Monroe County include State Senate, State and U.S. Representatives, three County Commission seats, Clerk of Courts, Sheriff, Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector, State Attorney, Public Defender and four judgeships. City of Key West Mayor and three Key West City Commission seats, two Monroe County School Board and two Florida Keys Mosquito Control District seats will also be on the 2020 ballot, as will the second KEYS Energy Lower Keys representative.
