Man arrested for trafficking heroin

A 40-year-old Islamorada man was arrested Sunday for possessing more than 15 grams of heroin.

Rory Gabriel Robles was charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and using a registration license plate from another vehicle.

Deputy William Daniels saw a black, 2004 Cadillac sport utility vehicle parked on the right-of-way at end of Toms Harbor Cut Bridge near Duck Key at 6 p.m. Deputy Daniels approached the sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Robles. Deputy Daniels ran the tag on the SUV and it came back for a different vehicle. Deputy Joel Torres arrived as backup. Robles admitted to taking the tag off a different vehicle he owns and placing it on the Cadillac.

A search was conducted of the SUV and 15.9 grams of heroin was found inside the vehicle, along with a litany of small baggies, straws and other drug paraphernalia.

Robles was taken to jail.
