Community Foundation Awards $30,000 to Aid Immediate COVID-19 Relief Efforts 

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) today granted $30,000 from its Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund to provide immediate relief to residents affected by COVID-19’s economic impacts in Monroe County. Three Keys nonprofits received the first grants from the Fund to directly assist individuals and families in urgent need of food and supplies:

  • Star of the Sea Foundation, $15,000 for its food pantry to assist residents in Key West and the Lower Keys, sosmission.org.
  • Keys Area Interdenominational Resources (KAIR), Marathon, $7,500 to aid Middle Keys residents with food and supplies, kaironline.org.
  • Burton Memorial United Methodist’s Daily Bread Pantry, Tavernier, $7,500 to support its food pantry for residents in need in the Upper Keys, bmumc.net/food-pantry.

Donations to the Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund at CFFK are urgently needed to meet the huge demand for aid to Keys residents affected by COVID-19’s economic consequences. Keys residents have been critically impacted by the current county-wide restrictions on all business, tourism and most other industries and activities. CFFK is distributing 100 percent of funds raised.

The Community Foundation is pleased that we are able to immediately help fill ‘the gap’ in funding for food pantries to assure that our neighbors are not going hungry. We are continuing to monitor the greatest unmet needs of residents in the Florida Keys and do what we can to help.”

CFFK will continue to make grants from the Relief Fund as long as donations are received. CFFK will provide grants to Keys nonprofits and will not be giving money directly to individuals.
