RED CROSS RESPONDS TO A MULTI-UNIT FIRE IN KEY WEST
MIAMI (March 18, 2020) – Last night, American Red Cross volunteers from the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter responded to a multi-unit fire that impacted two families on Harris Avenue in Key West, Fla.
Volunteers part of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team were on scene to help coordinate emergency aid to the affected family. Fire officials say four people were impacted by the blaze.
The Red Cross provided direct client assistance and recovery planning to the family to meet their disaster-caused needs.
On average, 36 people suffer injuries as a result of home fires every day. That’s why the American Red Cross launched the nationwide Home Fire Campaign in 2014 which aims to reduce home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent.
