Man cited for illegally harvesting snook

A 21-year-old Hollywood, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation early Saturday morning for harvesting a snook that was not within the slot limit.

Ruben Ariel Garcia Castaneda was cited after Deputy Ana Coello performed a resource check at Whale Harbor in Islamorada at Mile Marker 83 at 1 a.m.

Deputy Coello found Garcia Castaneda had neither a fishing license nor a snook permit. He was cited for both those offenses as well.

The snook found in his possession was 21.5 inches.

The slot limit for snook is not less than 28 inches with a maximum size of 33 inches.
