Man arrested for making threats with golf club  

A 24-year-old Key West man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after threatening another man with a golf club on Big Coppitt Key.

Jose Antonio Freire Interian was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Deputy Antonio Guieb responded to the Circle K gas station at 12:23 p.m. and met with the victim, an employee there. Internal Affairs Inspector Donnie Barrios happened to be in the area and stopped the suspect vehicle on U.S. 1 near First Street on Big Coppitt Key. The driver was identified as Interian.

The victim told Deputy Guieb he was outside the Circle K while working when Interian pulled into the gas station parking lot, got out of his car with a golf club and began yelling at him. The victim stated Interian called him a snitch and followed him into the store. The victim stated Interian threatened to kill him with the golf club. The victim stated he feared Interian was going to hit him with the golf club. A witness corroborated the victim’s statements.

Interian admitted to Sgt. David Fernandez to raising the golf club during the confrontation with the victim.

Interian was taken to jail.
