Art and Music to Enliven Key West’s Historic Seaport March 7th
The Schooner Wharf 20th Annual Art and Music Affair takes place on Saturday, March 7th, 2020. The annual festival, now in its twentieth year, has become established as one of Key West’s most enjoyable all-day events.
Colorful arts and crafts, exuberant musical entertainment and a day strolling Key West’s Historic Seaport are the main attractions.
The annual event is centered around the Schooner Wharf Bar, 202 William St., and the adjacent lane that stretches along the waterfront. The lively open-air affair provides a showcase for fine artists and artisans while giving musicians and bands a chance to strut their stuff.
The action is to begin at early at 9:30 a.m. with art exhibitions continuing until 6 p.m. or later. Live music will be showcased from the Schooner Wharf’s stage and is scheduled until midnight.
Creative offerings traditionally include original oil and acrylic paintings, pottery, decorative window art, handmade jewelry, photographs, fabric crafts and woodcarvings. Handmade creations as diverse as the artistic imagination are on display.
Approximately 50 artists and artisans are scheduled to take part in the eclectic affair and many plan to stage demonstrations of their techniques and talents during the day.
Michael McCloud is slated to kick off the day’s live music, backed by Dave Holland and Professor Pete. Songwriter/humorist McCloud is a veteran of the local music scene whose performances combine insightful original tunes, laid-back showmanship and witty banter.
The MT Pockets trio is back by popular demand, featuring classic and current favorites with a fiddle twist.
An evening showcase by multiple gold and platinum recording artist Paul Cotton and his band is to highlight the entertainment schedule. Cotton is best known as the primary songwriter, lead guitarist and lead vocalist for the country rock band Poco. Expect tunes ranging from Poco’s “Heart of the Night” to new originals.
Throughout the day both music and art are to compliment the vibrant, colorful and creative atmosphere of the event, the Schooner Wharf Bar and the Key West Historic Seaport.
