On January 16th the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at 2317 Fogarty Avenue. The search warrant was obtained after the police department initiated an investigation with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
During a search of the property, detectives and special agents found, a total of 12.4 grams of powder cocaine that was packaged for street level sales. Detectives and special agents also found items of drug paraphernalia which included a several bags for the packaging of narcotics. In addition, the search uncovered a stolen Smith and Wesson semi-automatic firearm that was stolen in a burglary from Miami-Dade County. A total of $19,099 dollars was seized, money suspected to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
Emilio Valdes, 32, was charged with: Possession with intent sell cocaine with 1000 feet of a school, felony possession of drug paraphilia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of stolen property.
Valdes has a history of drug charges and is on probation.
