Multiple Deputies and Detectives responded to a residence on 9th Avenue on Stock Island at approximately 12 p.m. regarding a domestic battery involving a knife.

They met the 37-year-old female victim. She stated she and Perez ceased their relationship on Wednesday. Perez subsequently moved all this personal belongings out of the residence. The woman stated Perez returned on Thursday and demanded she give him her gold rings.

Perez threw the woman on the ground and started hitting after she refused to give Perez the rings — valued at $775. The woman was able to free herself from Perez. Perez then went to the kitchen and retrieved a large knife. The woman ran out of the house, but Perez caught her about 100 feet from the residence. Perez grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back to the residence. Perez was threatening to kill the woman throughout the incident. A 20-year-old male roommate of the female victim tried to intervene at one point, but Perez threatened to kill him as well. The woman eventually gave Perez the rings on her fingers. Perez then left the scene in a car.

Another witness at the residence corroborated both victims’ statements regarding the incident.

Deputy Lazaro Valdes called Perez and asked him to return to the scene. Perez returned to the scene. Six gold rings were found in his possession. The female victim identified the gold rings as hers.

Perez was taken to jail.
