RED CROSS RESPONDS TO BOAT FIRE IN MARATHON
MIAMI (Dec. 20, 2019) – Early this morning, American Red Cross volunteers from the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter responded to a boat fire on 11th Street Ocean in Marathon, Fla.
Volunteers part of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team were on scene to help coordinate emergency aid to the affected individuals. Fire officials say two people were impacted by the blaze.
The Red Cross provided direct client assistance and recovery planning to the family to meet their disaster-caused needs.
Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster – and the vast majority of these are home fires. That’s why the American Red Cross launched the nationwide Home Fire Campaign in 2014 which aims to reduce home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent.
