Crosstown Greenway Discussion Sessions

December 11th and 12th, 2019, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, White Street Atrium, City Hall

In continuance with the Crosstown Greenway Pilot Project, the City will be hosting Street Plans for discussion sessions on Wednesday and Thursday December 11th and 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 pm.

With the help of the input from the previous public workshop and survey, Street Plans will have several displays set up in the lobby of City Hall and will be seeking additional input from the community. This is an informal session, meaning you may come and go as you please.

The Crosstown Greenway was identified in the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan as one of the first routes to implement. It runs along Duck, Staples, and Von Phister and services several schools, providing a direct inland route to the downtown area. This route is based on an already designated route as well as data collected from the 1996 Key West Bicycle/Pedestrian Strategic Plan, the 2009 Bicycle Action Plan, and community input provided for the 2019 Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan.

A Neighborhood Greenway is a street with low motorized traffic volumes of fewer than 3,000 vehicles per day, and speeds of 20 mph or less, designed to give bicycle and pedestrians travel priority.

This project could include more street trees, temporary interventions to slow traffic, new crosswalks and pedestrian infrastructure, asphalt art, and other in-street infrastructure.
