The Key West Poetry Guild will gather Sunday, December 1st, 2019 at 7 pm in the Auditorium of the Key West Library for our Monthly Reading.
The Key West Poetry Guild has met the first Sunday of almost every month for over forty years. We carry on the spirit of the Island of the Arts and Robert Frost’s Sunday Salon’s at the then-home of Jesse Newton Porter on Caroline St., Key West
The Guild has one rule…the Poetry you share must be your own work.
Our Featured Poet for December will be Ray McNiece
Ray McNiece is the author of eight books of poems and monologues. The Orlando Sentinel reporting on Ray’s solo show at the Fringe Festival called him “a modern day descendant of Woody Guthrie. He has a way with words and a wry sense of humor.” He toured Russia with Yevgeny Yevtushenko where he appeared on Good Morning, Russia and performed at the Moscow Polytech, the Russian Poets’ Hall of Fame where he was dubbed ‘the American Mayakovski. He is a three time Cleveland Haiku Death Match champion. He will be reading from his new haiku collection, a collaboration with photographer Tim Lachina, Breath Burns Away.
