Mel Fisher’s Treasures Presents Check to Wesley House Family Services & Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation

Key West, Florida Keys—October 15, 2019: On behalf of the Fisher family a check was presented to Wesley House Family Services in the amount of $14,000 as a result of this year’s Mel Fisher Days’ events. The funds will be used to support the program Healthy Families Monroe. Another check for $2,750 was presented to the Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation. Final amount of funds raised during July’s Mel Fisher Days totals $16,750.

Wesley House Family Services provides services to children and families throughout the Florida Keys. Some of these services include Foster and Adoptive Care, Independent Life Skills & Training, Prevention and Intervention Services, Community Based Care, Healthy Families Monroe, and the Inez Martin Child Development Center. To date the Fisher Family has donated over $130,000 to Wesley House Family Services.

The Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation mission is to donate AED’s (automatic external defibrillators) to schools nationwide and to educate staff on maintenance and training for these devices.

Each year a celebration is held in honor of Mel Fisher’s discovery of the Motherlode of the Atocha. Mel Fisher Days 2019 was a three day celebration with attendees from all over the country, many of Mel’s Golden Crew, and our Key West locals. 100% of all net proceeds from these events was donated to Wesley House Family Services and the Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation.

Mel Fisher’s Treasures, Wesley House Family Services, and the Michael Abt Jr. Have a Heart Foundation would like to thank the local businesses of Key West, volunteers, and attendees who supported this event. It was another successful July raising funds to assist children and families in need.
