Letter to the Editor / GREEN LIGHT TO DISASTER

Without a plan, strategy, debate or discussion with Congress, the American people, allies or the Kurds, the US President just ordered the removal of US troops and gave Turkey a personal green light to launch an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation, Syria, so as to destroy the Kurds.  We are abandoning our best partner in the fight against ISIS, the Kurds, a partner who suffered 10,000 casualties and 24,000 wounded out of loyalty to the US.

The consequences of this one individual’s decision will be horrific and include ethnic cleansing, a humanitarian disaster, war and a huge national security blunder that affects the US and all its allies.  The blunder of turning over our foreign policy to Turkey’s ruler includes the probable release or escape of some 10,000 ISIS terrorist fighters now being held by the Kurds.

Only swift and decisive action by Congress and the American people, who are shocked as they become aware, can mitigate this looming disaster.
