The State Attorney’s Office has welcomed two new assistant state attorneys to its ranks

PLANTATION KEY, September 17, 2019 – Jorge Jaile, 28, and Paul Vargo, 34, were informed September 16 that they had passed The Florida Bar exam and were sworn in shortly after by Monroe County Judge Sharon Hamilton.

Both graduated from the University of Miami School of Law and will represent the state in misdemeanor cases in the Upper Keys.

“We became friends the first day of law school and have been friends ever since, so it’s pretty cool we’re working together,” Vargo said. Added Jaile: “This is a big day for us.”

“We’re excited to have Jorge and Paul join our staff and welcome their enthusiasm,” State Attorney Dennis Ward said. “We have no doubt they are going to be valuable additions to our team.”

Jaile, a Miami native, received his bachelor’s degree in business and financial management from Florida International University and enjoys cycling, inshore fishing and “overall being on the water. General outdoors stuff.” He owns a small flat-bottom canoe with an 8 horsepower engine. “I love that little thing.”

Vargo, a Riverside, California native, graduated from California Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He was a catcher on the school’s baseball team and played in the independent Golden Baseball League. Like Jaile, he enjoys “pretty much being outside” and activities including fishing and camping.
