Diver airlifted to Miami

A 40-year-old male reportedly fell unconscious while back aboard a rental boat after diving 100 feet to the Eagle wreck off Islamorada Tuesday afternoon.

The man’s name was not immediately available.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified at 1:44 p.m. that people aboard a A1A Watersports boat were bringing the man ashore where he was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier.

The man was then airlifted by Trauma Star from Mariners Hospital to Mercy Hospital in Miami.

His condition was not immediately clear Tuesday afternoon.
