Key West NOW Vice President Christine Thompson to Attend National NOW Conference, “Feminist Agenda Rising: Our Time is Now”
The Key West chapter of National Organization for Women (NOW) is pleased to announce that vice president, Christine Thompson, and her daughter, Palace, will be attending the national NOW conference in Minneapolis, MN this July 19th-21st. Speakers at the conference, “Feminist Agenda Rising: Our Time is Now” will include honoree Lizz Winstead, co-creator and head writer for The Daily Show, Virginia Senator Jennifer McClellan, cosponsor of ERA Ratification in the Virginia senate, Ellie Smeal, president and co-founder of the Feminist Majority, and Professor Sarah Deer, working to end violence against Native American women for more than 25 years.
Christine is looking forward to representing Key West at this important event.
“At this pivotal time leading up to the 2020 election cycle, it’s critical to support equality and women’s rights, and to demand that our elected representatives do the same. The national NOW conference is an enormous opportunity to for our community to reaffirm these values and strengthen a coalition for action,” said Lizzy Hoke, Key West NOW president.
NOW is the largest organization of feminist grass-roots activists in the US. NOW has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members and activists in all 50 states.
Since its founding 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism, to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
Key West NOW meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm at Shanna Key and we welcome your presence.
