Publix Donation Supports Shared Mission with UWFK in Monroe County
FLORIDA KEYS – On any given day, UWFK works with local nonprofits to support school dental clinics, nutritious meals for senior citizens, after school programs, food pantries for hungry families, Hurricane Irma recovery and more. This is in addition to providing free tax preparation, books mailed to local children, school supplies for all students and publishing the most comprehensive resource guide in Monroe County.
UWFK is able to assist with residents’ needs in our community thanks in part to the generosity of Publix associates and Publix Super Markets Charities. As UWFK’s largest ever annual donation at $95,684, Publix Super Markets Charities’ recent gift dramatically impacts UWFK’s work providing access to nutritious food, education, and financial stability in Monroe County. Publix and their associates give generously each year and happily support many efforts throughout the communities they serve. Publix runs a robust workplace giving campaign for UWFK, and staff at their Keys stores have been strong participants in the campaign for many years.
10% of the Publix Charities’ donation is designated for an Emergency Fund. These funds provide emergency assistance to community members who are employed and in need of temporary assistance due to an unexpected life event. Through UWFK working with Florida Keys Outreach Coalition and Keys Area Interdenominational Resources to disburse these funds, it helps foster Publix and UWFK’s shared mission serving working families throughout Monroe County.
UWFK is incredibly thankful for Publix’s generosity. With their support and the support of many other local donors, UWFK served over 30,000 individuals in the past year. UWFK ensures that what is raised in the Keys stays in the Keys, supporting the local community. Thank you, Publix for showing what it means to Live United!
