Man arrested for reckless driving

 

A 32-year-old Miami man was arrested Saturday night after reaching speeds of 111 mph in a 55 mph zone before crashing on U.S. 1.

 

Shiller Florestal was charged with reckless driving.

 

Lower Keys Deputy Jonathan Lane received a be-on-the-lookout for a silver Lexus car that was southbound on U.S. 1 at Mile Marker 58. The Lexus was unable to stay in a lane, passing in no passing zones and driving into oncoming traffic.

 

Deputy Lane spotted the Lexus on the Bahia Honda Key Bridge traveling 111 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Lane activated his lights and sirens. The Lexus braked and began to fishtail and crashed into bushes in the center median before coming to a stop off the road.

 

Florestal stated he was going to Key West to see a friend.

 

Florestal was taken to jail.
