Key West Cat Burglars in Custody

Key West Police Detectives apprehended two men in connection with a series of burglaries of residents in several Key West neighborhoods.

Joshua Lee Riddle, 34, and Damon Mikal Breitenbach, 42, were identified with the help of surveillance footage as well as photos taken by one of the burglary victims.
One of the suspects was seen by several of the victims, and he told them that he was searching for his “tuxedo cat.” Some victims, upon hearing the excuse, allowed the man onto their property and later found evidence of break-ins.

Both suspects face a variety of felony charges.

“We’re extremely grateful for the community’s help in solving this case,” said Chief Sean Brandenburg. “And I’m proud of the quick and coordinated effort by our department in finding these individuals to ensure they don’t commit further burglaries.”
