Man arrested in armed robbery faces additional threats charge
A 22-year-old Marathon man with a lengthy arrest history already in jail for violating probation who was further charged this month in the armed robbery of a man in January has been further charged yet again for threatening to harm one of his arresting Deputies during a jail phone call.
Thomas Andrew Lancaster was already facing charges of battery, kidnapping and robbery with a deadly weapon — a knife — when he was additionally charged with making threats against a law enforcement officer.
Lancaster was heard on a May 14 jail recorded phone call to a female stating: “If I ever see that (expletive, expletive) cracker, I’m a bust his (expletive) loose, too. If I ever catch that (expletive, expletive) cracker without his badge on. I’m gonna bust his (expletive) loose.”
Lancaster added: “I don’t give a (expletive) if they are listening. He better know, too. Take my life away for some (expletive) I didn’t even do. (Expletive, expletive) cracker.”
Deputies arrested Lancaster shortly prior to the phone call in the Jan. 17, 2019 armed robbery on the 7700 block of Aviation Boulevard, which has been under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office since that time. There were no serious injuries in the incident.
As per robbery: The victim stated Lancaster and another man — the codefendant who remains at large — came into his camper brandishing a knife. Lancaster kicked one of the women in the stomach and demanded money from the male victim. The victim gave him $90 and told him he had more money outside in his vehicle. A struggle ensued outside in which the victim was cut on the hand with the knife. Lancaster and other assailant then fled the scene.
Lancaster had his face covered with a T-shirt, but the victim recognized him regardless. The victims identified Lancaster and the other man in a photo lineup thereafter.
Lancaster remains in jail under no bail. The case remains ongoing and more arrests as well as charges may be pending.
Lancaster has an arrest history that includes theft of a firearm, robbery and drug-related offenses among others.
“I will never tolerate threats made against the men and women who work for me in the service of this community,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “I’m relieved that the judge in this case agrees in terms of this defendant being held under no bail. I look forward to justice being served in this case and I know the victims and the community do as well.”
