League of Women Voters

Even more love for Mother Earth. . .

The Love Your Mother Earth Civics Lesson sponsored by the Lower Keys League of Women Voters is growing. Dee Dee Green, the Solid Waste Coordinator for the City of Key West, and Alison Higgins city Sustainability Coordinator are already signed up, and additional Mother Earth advocates will participate in the league’s community civics lesson Wed., April 17, upstairs at the Waterfront Brewery at 5:30 p.m. in Key West.

Natalia Duke from the Key West Women’s March is a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps founded by former Vice President Al Gore and will join Julie Brown from Key West Green Drinks and Florida Keys Surfrider Foundation, Mill McCleary from Reef Relief, Mark Songer from Last Stand and Caroline Horn from Fair Insurance Rates in Monroe – FIRM — in brief presentations focusing on environmental challenges and successes in the Lower Keys. Q&As will follow.

The environment is the #1 issue of Lower Keys League of Women Voters members. This is a good – and fun — opportunity to learn what is happening environmentally in the Lower Keys and also watch a Key West sunset. There will be a cash bar and snacks to enjoy.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues through education and advocacy.
