Key West New Town Fire Quelled

An apartment fire at Solano Village on Northside Drive has been quenched by the Key West Fire Department.

The fire was reported just after 1:30 this afternoon by a caller who spotted flames coming out of an end unit in the multi-unit complex.

Fire and police responded immediately and the fire was quickly put out. Neighbors were safely evacuated, and pets in the unit below the fire were also safely removed from the building.

Early reports that three adults lived in the unit that burned, and the American Red Cross has been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
