LETTER TO THE EDITOR / THE SHIP OF STATE IS OFF COURSE
Roger C. Kostmayer
What the President tells the American people, and doesn’t tell the American people, in our annual State of the Union address, is critical to understanding if our ship of state is on a proper course.
The list of what our President did not tell us is longer and more important than most of what he did – and it begins with the truths he did not tell. Fact checkers documented why the President has no credibility, with examples like his false abortion claims. Stunningly, there was no mention of the catastrophic Trump government shutdown, global warming, reasonable gun reforms or ripping asylum seeking families apart that are reported to be among the most urgent issues facing our nation and the globe.
Constitutional scholars will call the 2019 SOTU presentation the “Constitutional crisis speech” because Trump, like a mafia boss, threatened to prevent elected legislators from legislating if they pursued their Constitutional duty to oversee the executive branch. Think about that. Think about the implications for any democracy confronting a narcissistic dictator wanna be, or ask yourself if there’s any chance that an innocent person could say or do such things.
No SOTU speech in American history has ever more dangerously avoided the truth, failed to address existential threats and attacked our Constitutional foundations – all in a mostly boring 90 minutes. The response must be more truth, facts and sunshine that informs the public by legitimate and necessary legislative oversight. We must defend our freedoms and get our ship of state back on a proper course.

The state of the Union address was a misleading, incompetent, haphazard mess — just like the Trump presidency.
“The state of the Union address was”
given by President Trump; not Hilary or Bernie.
It was a great SOTU!
Yet the CBS poll reported a 76% approval rating. What’s going on?
The ‘LEFT’ appears more concerned that President Trump will be a great president than a bad one. That much is evident with all the ranting and false accusations in an attempt to diminish his standing and popularity.
Cheap political tricks do not replace steady leadership and stoic persona.
I wish President Trump was more like a mob boss, then this country would be back to normal and not being ripped apart by communist lefty’s and bloodsucking freeloaders wanting to ride the backs of the real working class. A heavy hand is now needed to smack down the useless eaters and invaders before they crush our American way of freedom and turn us into the SH they came from! YEAH TRUMP!
He’s a pig and a con-man. His administration is a cesspool of strippers, grifters and incompetent bottom feeders. If his approval rating ever hits the seventies God help us.
“He’s a pig and…”
Yep, and Hilary isn’t President for 2 years!
“God help us.:
This ‘socialist view’ is why President Trump won!
Please try “God helps those who help themselves” (Algernon Sydney)
“He’s a pig and a con-man.”
Versus..Pres Clinton getting a hummer and adulterating a perfectly good cigar?
Then Pres Clinton defining the English word “IS”; along with what constitutes “carnal knowledge”?
You mean something like that?
Along the way, Ms. Clinton doing a rendition of Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” and destroying other women?
Any comparison?
Only Mary is a true American.
John … There is nothing socialist about me. This is a convenient label, but, no
“There is nothing socialist about me.”
