Pharmacy employee arrested for pill theft
A 40-year-old Key West woman employed at the Walgreens on Big Pine Key was arrested Tuesday afternoon for stealing prescription medication. Jennifer Christine Forehand was charged with grand theft of a controlled substance.
A Walgreens manager reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. Deputy Jon Riggs responded to the business at 30351 Overseas Highway. The manager stated they noticed missing pills via the counting system they use to track all medications. The manager reviewed security camera footage. Forehand, employed as a pharmacy technician, can be seen on camera on Jan. 10 count several Percocet pills and place them in her pocket. The manager stated Forehand had taken five pills previously on Jan. 13, but returned them when she explained she found them on the floor. The manager estimates about 18 pills were taken since Jan. 10.
Forehand admitted stealing pills on Jan. 10 when confronted by Riggs. Forehand stated they were for personal use.
