“Professional consultants whose careers are spent trying to perfect the answer, would tell you there must be an objective, rational and disciplined selection plan that begins with determining the criteria and characteristics you believe are required to do the difficult job effectively.”
You perfectly explained why Hillary lost as she lacked the knowledge involving the Electoral College! You also describe Romney to a tee, we didn’t elect him and he lost to a neophyte political amateur.
Glad you have identified that the previous Presidents have been failures.
You provided answers why the US in the position we are in. You provided the reasons Pres Trump won!
Further, professionals will tell you it has to be a person who will improve the bottom line and advance the mission. Not some sensitive, feel-good, do-gooder, that says what we want to hear, and knows how to drink tea properly. A leader, not a community organizer or some other make nice bozo.
If I have to have brain surgery, I want the best capable surgeon and not the best table mannered, politically correct, sensitive buffoon.
Thank you! Looks like Pres Trump will get re-elected in 2020.
Thank you for another letter to show why Pres Trump won and has been in office for 2 years.
You conveniently and conspicuously omitted the MOST important criteria for US elected office:
• A candidate that promises to work in the USA interest ahead of some UN, globalist, open-border agenda.
• The candidate that puts the USA’s interest ahead of any other world or countries’ interests. The rest id fluff. I don’t want some do-gooder, feel-good person who is a globalist, works to benefit other countries at my expense, or follows some one-world order agenda.
We tried the former and it hasn’t worked for us or to benefit us in the USA! Has it?
Pres Trump was that candidate. Hillary, with that non-USA first agenda, won the participation prize as a result.
(BTW…Hillary had all those professionals advising her 1 billion dollar campaign and they and her were not intelligent enough to understand the Electoral College.)
The problem is that, as a country, we have a cult of personality. The electorate is bombarded with party platform talking points and media sound bites. They are not able to nor have no time to delve into candidates portfolios or qualifications . Hence they vote with their gut for the candidate who comes across as genuine and believable.
The polity out there wants and needs someone whom they, first and foremost, can trust to deliver on his/her promises and to defend the country against all enemies foreign or domestic. That is the essence of democracy. We don’t rely on lobbyists to tell us how to suck eggs. We don’t trust those whose views on reality greatly differ from our own.
When we see those who have a drastically different view of our realpolitik take money and support from foreign donors who have a diametrically opposite agenda to ours, we recoil. As we should do, especially given the level of complicity the left has exhibited with globalists, Islamists and socialists at large.
Incompetent?
• Understood the Electoral College better than Hillary…
• used less campaign money to win the election
• had a lot more energy than Hillary
• and won!
Liar?
Bummer
• promises of taxes, immigration, foreign and trade policy all going forward.
• And he won on making those promises
“Professional consultants whose careers are spent trying to perfect the answer, would tell you there must be an objective,…”
Wasn’t Hillary supposed to have won in 2016….the professionals all told her so!
The letter sounds like a script line from Men In Black
“Son. Second Lieutenant Jake Jensen. West Point. Graduate with honors. We’re here because you want the best of the best of the best, sir!
What’s so funny, Edwards? Your boy, Captain America, here. ”The best of the best of the best, sir!” ”With honors.” He’s just really excited, and he has no clue why we’re here.”
Our President is being hit from all sides and may be wavering in his ability to withstand the onslaught he has never experienced while being the captain of his own ship. Back then he could whip out his mighty saber and fire whomever whenever.
But in today\’s government of kiss butters and holy rollers he cannot do that. That is what I fear will burn him out as it did many other Presidents who realized where the real powers are that rule this rock. I would still support him to the hilt and hope some others with powers to support him will surface. To understand who is rocking his boat, just follow the money, the old world money!
Trump is being attacked from all sides ecause reasonable men abd women across the political spectrum recognize he isn’t up to the job and doesn’t have the character needed to lead a great country.
Every time I get into a discussion with someone that is really into politics one way or the other I have one statement for them. The government of the US and also that of the rest of the world is controlled by one thing: money. Trump has pissed all of the money people off because he managed to become president without their monetary control or approval. The money folks are now working their magic to buy whoever is necessary to take back their control. Hillary had so much monetary backing (as did her husband) that she thought there was no possible way that she could lose. That is why that Trump is being hit from all possible sides. They are all money and control sides. That part of the equation is totally pissed that their routine failed for probably the first and last times ever. I, of course, have no idea of the incredible number of politicians who are totally bought and paid for in exchange for agreed political supports but it has to be ongoing and massive. All is bought and paid for. When it reaches the final level of actual voting they have long before allowed who they want to participate. (Except for Trump, which moved it to out of their control.)

We agree that the most important criterion is, as you say, someone who will do what\\\’s best for the USA. But then there needs to be a healthy, civil and fact based debate that defines exactly what is, and isn\\\’t, best for our country. Is it enriching yourself? Lying to the American people? Offending our closest allies? Pandering to dictator adversaries? Putting yourself above the law? Refusing to listen to or read vital information from the most experienced and patriotic advisors? Attack our democratic institutions and slander our free press? I think not.
Our forefathers actually imagined the situation in which we find ourselves. When drafting the Constitution they expressly decided that if someone was elected President by nefarious methods (such as bribes or other) and then tried to use the powers of the Presidency to obtain immunity and hold on to power, that was unacceptable and Congress was given the power to prevent it.
Thanks for your concern and participation .

Money is one thing and, yes, it does make the world go round. However, a quality that trumps Pharisees in the Temple, is leadership, one that is closely tied to the will of the electorate and the fulfillment of campaign promises. What part of that equation can’t wishy-washy democrats understand?
The only person, beside myself, who qualifies died back in the 40’s or moved to Argentina back then. HE had all the above qualities and then some!
