ANNUAL PASSES FOR 2019 ON SALE FOR CARD SOUND BRIDGE TOLL

KEY LARGO, FL – Annual passes for 2019 are now on sale for Monroe County’s new All-Electronic Tolling System on Card Sound Road.

An annual pass is available for two axle vehicles only. It costs $360 for unlimited travel through the toll in 2019 (from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31).

The annual pass must be purchased in person. Additional dates are now available to purchase them in Ocean Reef.

  • Monroe County building office: 2 Gatehouse Road in Ocean Reef on Jan. 2, 3, 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

The annual passes also can be purchased Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Murray Nelson Government and Cultural Center, Room 220, 102050 Overseas Highway in Key Largo.

Payment can be made by check or credit card. Using a credit card also requires a $7.50 convenience fee.

You also will need to fill out an application form. Please bring your SunPass® transponder number (all 13 digits required) and your vehicle information: make, model, year and license plate number.

With the new system that became operational in October, all tolls are collected electronically. Motorists can use either SunPass®, another interoperable transponder, or be billed utilizing the TOLL-BY-PLATE system. Cash will not be accepted on the roadway. TOLL-BY-PLATE customers will be charged the toll, plus a monthly $2.50 administrative fee and will receive a bill by mail.

The new Card Sound Road toll rates are: $1.50 for two axle vehicles (cars, pickup trucks and motorcycles) and $1 per axle for vehicles with 3 or more axles.

Monroe County also is offering a monthly rebate program for two axle vehicles only. This program does not require registering. It is automatic for frequent users who have a valid SunPass® transponder.  The rebate works like this: For any valid SunPass® account that records 28 trips in one calendar month, an automatic 40 percent rebate will be credited the next month to that account.

NOTE: The annual pass and rebate program do not apply to vehicles towing a boat or trailer. Accounts will be charged $1 per axle for any vehicle going through the toll with three axles or more, even if you have an annual pass. And trips made through the toll with three axles or more will not count toward the rebate program.

The SunPass® Mini transponder costs $4.99 and is available at thousands of retail locations including Publix, CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens, Navarro Discount Pharmacies, Sedano’s Supermarkets, Amscot, all AAA locations in Florida, Florida Welcome Centers, all Turnpike service plaza gift shops and Turnpike convenience stores. It is also available at www.SunPass.com and at 1-888-TOLL-FLA (865-5352).
