“Looking Upwards, to the Sky” Opens Thursday, December 6, 6-8pm
Exhibition on View in the Sanger Gallery, XOJ and Zabar Project Galleries December 6-27
[Key West, Fl.] On December 6 from 6-8pm, The Studios of Key West keeps their doors open late for First Thursday, a monthly open house celebrating new exhibitions, studio artists, and current projects at The Studios. The Studios’ brand new 2019 catalog is fresh off the presses and available to the public that night, detailing all the events, classes and exhibitions lined up for the season.
The theme of this year’s winter members’ exhibition is “Looking Upwards, to the Sky”. Whether it’s the endless blue of an ocean-colored tropical sky, the stars overhead as you bicycle home at night, or a spontaneous rainbow after a mid-afternoon shower, The Studios invited artists to consider the simple act of looking up as metaphor for a future filled with creative possibility.
“With nearly 125 entries, the members’ exhibition is one of our most popular each year,” said Elena Devers, deputy director. “And with so much reasonably-priced original art, it’s also one of the best holiday shopping opportunities of the season.”
A wide range of artistic styles and media will be represented in each of the galleries, including pottery, sculpture, watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, mixed media works, and more.
Visitors can also stop by during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, to view exhibitions and projects-in-progress.
