LETTER TO THE EDITOR / THE FAKE CARAVAN THREAT

Roger C. Kostmayer

The White House is pushing a cynical fear campaign designed to produce anger and votes (while increasing the risk of domestic violence). This political campaign is devoid of truth or facts.

One of this campaign’s successes is the little old ladies in Minnesota who are terrified that hordes of brown foreigners are rushing to invade summer lake cottages near them. And uninformed voters applaud the President’s, expensive and inappropriate, ordering 5,000 US military forces to our Southern border to stop a fictitious invasion.

The fact is that desperate Latin American women, children and families are fleeing the threat of murder, rape and gangs. Most seek legal asylum and safety in the us or elsewhere. Escapees have learned that traveling on foot alone is dangerous and makes them easy prey. They now tend to band together for protection. There is NO evidence that these victims are funded by Mr. Soros, Jewish bankers or anyone else; nor is there any evidence that the caravan is full of either “Middle Eastern terrorists” or blood thirsty gangs.

The caravan now has less than 5,000 walkers and is shrinking as time and miles go by. Their pace is slow, the heat is debilitating and rest days are frequent. Reportedly, they are 900 miles from the US border. These facts combine to suggest that it will be 2019 before several thousand exhausted immigrants reach a customs facility, apply for asylum or other status, and are processed.

The conclusion is obvious. This hateful White House campaign isn’t about illegal immigration, the rule of law, or a dangerous invasion. It is about fear, lies, hate and a shrewd attempt to con the American people in order to get votes on November 6.
