LETTER TO THE EDITOR / LOVE MUST DEFEAT HATE
By Roger C. Kostmayer
Today we’re all Jewish and one human family in our deep sorrow. On the heels of pipe bombs sent to former presidents and public servants we now mourn for all who, directly or indirectly, feel the loss of three women and eight men who were murdered in a house of worship in Squirrel Hill.
The answer is not more guns. It is not more death sentences. And it is not fear, anger or hate. After we give comfort and support to the community of our brothers and sisters and the healing begins, we must unite and act. We must vote, we must reach out, and most of all we must remember who we are and to what we aspire to be as a society.
What we must not do is allow ourselves to become that which we are fighting against.

Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya.
Still, it would appear that one of the things that set off this killer, based on his online rants, is seeing pictures of a white truck sporting the Star of David on either side and which carried a load of migrants toward our border.
Had someone attempted to defuse such inflammatory imagery by explaining away why Jews are helping migrants who are attempting an exodus invasion of our realm, perhaps, just perhaps, those who perished would still be alive…and Jews would have been exonerated.
I would like to know why their countries threw them out in the first place. Why would sane, stable people not do something to improve their lives by fixing what is wrong with their homeland? They breed like rats and expect their elected officials to house and feed them for free. Then when they do not get what they want they want to attack another country and ruin that. If America is being attacked by subversive groups or an international movement to bring us down, the I agree that our leaders should use any means to avoid such a situation. Don’t let the bleeding-hearts, the weak and useless eaters contrive to allow America to fall!
The synagogue murders are a tragedy.
It appears there is a progressive conundrum developing.
I am reading comments to stories specifically from some progressive political areas (Portland, OR being one) calling out Socialist Dem politicians that are making statements of support at vigils.
The readers’ comments question how their Socialist Dem politicians can be high lighting the murder of Jews; yet the same politicians support Israel. The comments question Israel’s anti-Palestinian position along with the US Embassy move to Jerusalem.
I guess this is one of those “unintended consequences” for politicians as well as local progressives.
Good news…about time…hopefully the appeal process is shortened with Kavanaugh on the bench…
York Daily Record…”
Federal prosecutors are asking approval from U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to seek the death penalty for alleged synagogue shooter Robert Bowers.
If convicted and sentenced, Bowers, 46, would be the second person from Pennsylvania to commit murder in Pennsylvania and end up on federal death row.”
