Search warrant leads to drug arrests
Members of the Sheriff’s Office as well as federal agents raided a Stock Island home shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday, leading to the arrest of two people.Cocaine, ammunition, pills and drug paraphernalia were found in the residence.
- Jerneen Nicole Green, 43, was charged with possession of pills without a prescription, a weapon or ammunition by a felon, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
- Luis A. Soto Santiago, 35, was charged with failure to appear in court, resisting arrest and possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Soto Santiago was found hiding within a hole in a bedroom closet ceiling and only agreed to come out after deputies threatened to use a Taser in order for him to comply.
Sheriff’s Office SWAT deputies, detectives and road patrol deputies as well as Homeland Security Investigations and Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed the search warrant at 26E 12th Ave.
They announced themselves as law enforcement numerous times with no response before breaching a door to the residence. Three people inside were immediately detained, including Green. A search of the residence and the three people began shortly thereafter. Green was found to be in possession of .3 grams of crack cocaine.
A DEA K9 was used to help search the residence.
- Forty-eight pills, multiple marijuana pipes and grinders and 31 rounds of handgun ammunition were found in the first bedroom. None of the pills had prescription labels.
- Three small bags with trace amounts of cocaine and two pipes were found in the second bedroom.
The second bedroom closet ceiling is where officers found Soto Santiago hiding.
Green and Santiago were taken to jail.
The other two people at the residence were not arrested.
