IT’S GETTING CLOSER! / Florida Keys Recovery Celebration
Saturday, September 8, 2018
Big Pine Community Park
We’ve been resilient and we’ve made great strides in the past year. We’re not fully there yet but join us to celebrate the continuing successes in our ongoing recovery from Hurricane Irma, which changed lives in the Florida Keys when it struck on September 10, 2017.
The free Florida Keys Recovery Celebration is on Saturday, September 8, and presented by State Attorney Dennis Ward and several partners: Coca-Cola Beverages Florida (Coke Florida), the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, Centennial Bank, We Love Big Pine and the United Way of the Florida Keys.
We’re on our way back…
There is much more to do but evidence of recovery is everywhere, from reopened businesses to repaired homes. Individuals, organizations and others Keyswide made it happen and this Florida Keys Recovery Celebration serves to commemorate successes so far.
Think about what the Florida Keys are recovering from:
- 1,179 housing units destroyed.
- 2,977 housing units received major damage.
- Numerous businesses destroyed or damaged.
- More than 1,300 boats destroyed or damaged.
Let’s Celebrate: Saturday, September 8, 2018, Big Pine Community Park, 11A – 5P
The family-friendly event will include a variety of free food, beverages, live music, children’s activities, animals from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm and giveaways. We will also take time to recognize the people and groups that played a role in getting us through the storm and that continue to play a role in Florida Keys recovery.
Save these details and plan to celebrate with us:
- Saturday, September 8, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Big Pine Community Park, 31009 Atlantis Drive, at the end of Sands Road on the bayside, mile marker 31.
- This is a rain-or-shine event. Some tables and chairs will be available, but feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Your well-behaved pet is welcome to attend, as well. No coolers, please.
