Woman’s Club Throws Baby Shower for Wesley House Families
The sound of laughter and the voices of children filled the Key West Woman’s Clubhouse as they worked alongside Wesley House Family Services on Saturday. The “Healthy Families” program will provide guidance and support for these children and parents until the baby is 5-years-old.
“The Woman’s Club planned the baby shower with hope these wee ones grow in the love and support that was on display Saturday,”said Dawn Martin, president of the club.
Mothers, babies, fathers and older siblings all joined in the celebration of a new baby with food, games and lots of gifts.
Sharon Hirsch, Woman’s Club member, spearheaded this collaborative effort to bring about “Baby Time” to help 30 families.
Generous donations of money and items poured in from the entire community including the Southernmost Knitters and The Seam Shoppe who created baby blankets. The Lower Keys Medical Center provided each family with an educational development toy and a case of diapers and wipes. Each mom received pink or blue hampers filled with the necessities for a great beginning.
