Trophia Foundation Recognized
Mayor Craig Cates recently recognized the generous role the Trophia Foundation plays in replenishing the island’s green canopy by proclaiming May first as Trophia Foundation Appreciation Day.
Since Hurricane Irma ravaged the Keys, the Trophia Foundation has donated $50,000 worth of canopy trees to the community. The trees have been planted throughout the community.
The Trophia Foundation continuously and generously promotes the planting of trees and shrubs in the island city. With the help and support of the Tree Commission, the Urban Forester and Community Services, trees are being planted along city sidewalks and in city parks. The Tree Commission was established in 1971, by State legislation, in recognition that trees on public and private property are economic and aesthetic assets to the citizens of Key West.
