Iceland trip offers unique opportunities

Imagine taking off anywhere on the globe, somewhere exquisite and exciting, somewhere you would have never imagined you’d be going. One World One Canvas (OWOC) is a unique organization that helps those in need all around the world and gives unprivileged teens the experience and opportunity of traveling to different places. Shannon Perkins, President of the OWOC board is looking for teenagers who want a cultural and educational experience while benefitting children at the same time. The OWOC board is planning an astounding journey to Iceland during next year’s Spring Break.

“The Iceland trip is a fine arts trip for any teens who are willing to sign up. We will be doing photography and going to various different, cool places in Iceland that will give us a good taste of their history and culture,” Perkins states.

“We’re going to see things that most people in Key West don’t get the opportunity to see,” Perkins says as she elaborates that there are volcanoes, snow, glaciers, and breathtaking northern lights.

Itineraries are significant when planning for a big adventure. “We do something different and fun each day,” Perkins explains. “For example, we’ll be going to the Blue Lagoon the first two days, and then see the northern lights the next day.”

The Iceland adventure will include tour guides, food, hotel rooms, and even OWOC shirts. The trip also includes a whale-watching cruise, a journey to see waterfalls and geysers, and even a visit to a black sand beach.

“I really do believe that this trip would be great for kids who want to make a difference in the world,” Perkins articulates. “It is life-changing when students go on a trip, and they can help other children. It’s beneficial for all.” According to the OWOC board, travelers have given art workshops to thousands of underprivileged children, serviced hundreds of families with food for months, and painted multiple schools and classrooms.
