MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO MOBILE HOME FIRE ON BIG PINE KEY

BIG PINE KEY, FL – Early Saturday morning, Monroe County Fire Rescue crews from the Big Pine Key, Cudjoe Key and Sugarloaf Key stations responded to a structure fire at 31458 Avenue C on Big Pine Key.

The dispatch was made at 12:12 a.m. April 7, 2018. The first crew arrived at the scene in about four minutes to find an approximately 900-foot mobile home and a 500-foot camper engulfed with heavy flames and smoke. The crews put out the fire and prevented the blaze from spreading.

The occupants had evacuated the structure prior to the arrival of Fire Rescue crews. No one was injured.

Red Cross representatives came from Miami to assist the residents with the loss of their home and possessions.

The Monroe County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
